Amber Rose Tamblyn was born on the 14th of May, 1983 in Santa Monica, California, to Russ Tamblyn, an actor, dancer and singer, and Bonnie Murray, a teacher, singer, and artist.
Amber Tamblyn was cast as Emily Bowen on the soap opera, General Hospital, which she acted in from 1995 to 2001.
She scored the title role of Joan Girardi in the CBS series, Joan of Arcadia. She earned a Golden Globe nomination and an Emmy nomination in 2004 for this role. It also earned her nominations for a Saturn Award for Best Actress in a Television Series in 2004 and 2005 (which she won in 2004), The Teen Choice Awards, The Golden Satellite Awards, and the Young Artist Awards.
Amber Tamblyn's first major movie role was in the The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants in 2005. She also starred in the sequel.
Her role of Stephanie Daley in the movie, Stephanie Daley, won her a Bronze Leopord at the Locarno International Film Festival and a nomination for the Best Actress award at the Independent Spirit Awards. The film also won an award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
Amber Tamblyn has self-published two books of poetry, Of the Dawn and Plenty of Ships. She has also had published a poetry book, Loneliest, in 2005, which featured Haikus by Tamblyn and collages by George Herms. In the same year, her book of poems, Free Stallion, was also published.
